You could say:

Well, if the teacher's goal was passing knowledge on to me, not making profits, I should be thankful. But..

obviously that was not the case. As far as the teacher is concerned this is just an unintended consequence of her earning a living.

Yes, people in the US are grateful for the cheap China made merchandise they are getting from Walmart. Otherwise they wouldn't pay their hard earned money to buy them.

If you are a merchant, do you prefer people buy your products or just be friendly with you?
