I don't want to start a holy war here, but IMHO the author is heavily biased -- ziggy - (348 Byte) 2005-6-14 周二, 05:36 (539 reads) |

The author, like all of those who compare "cultures" in an abstract sense, made way too liberal use of extrapolation from individual examples. Yet, he didn't even check if the examples are actually from Americans. When you see a white guy on the street of New York, do you automatically assume he is American? If he waits for the traffic light to turn green before he crosses the street, can you draw a conclusion that Americans are all good citizens?
The author didn't define "American culture" or "Chinese culture" either. Cultures are almost impossible to define, and borders between cultures non-existent. IMHO the world is a continuous spectrum. Without borders, how do you do the comparison.
