Thank you for your note. I really appreciate you spending time reading my answers. And I agree with you.
Finding the silver bullet was never my intention. It was viewed by many people as "纸上谈兵" anyway. What I wanted to promote is a positive attitude and a old-fashioned step-by-step methodology towards problem solving, which the western world has grasped and perfected for centuries. What I found in contrast in China is that sometimes we do too much talking on problems. Then they are forgotten and end up nowhere, but will pop up somewhere in the future conversation. But once they are laid out on paper, people start to think about underlying reasons and begin to seek solutions.
Regarding the corruption in China, I do not doubt it for a second. So what to do about it? The attitude to do something about it is as important as finding the solution.
You gave a good example in Oil&Gas industry, which I happend to work with in China for a couple of years. I may not agree with you that corruption is the main reason why foreign companies cannot compete. It has to do with China's strategy on energy. Anyway, whether that is the case is not important here.
