stands no chance to go for the credit if things work out, but sure would be the one to blame if turns sour
must know whatexactly you want out of this? to get closer to your boss ot to grab the client/potential partner for other considerations?
if all you want is to be admired by your boss, all you need to do is to work as a consultant: present the fact with both sides, tell him here is the down side and the upside, give him several options, when thing goes right, make sure you let him think it is his right decision, but he will for sure rely on you if he got a chinese business and you were part of it in development, he is your fucking slave whenever comes to this biz. you do not beg for it, let him beg you: once his ass is on it, he will get fired if it does not go well. so you need to get him hooked up to this so you could control him later.
chinese politics is far greater than american one because we play several steps ahead of them.
title is not always the power base. sometimes you find his secretary has the information power can manipuate people
much easier than the big boss...
so, yeah, being the chinese native, you get th SOB hooked up then it is all yours
