How did you guys get the deals? I suspect it's from referrals from someone you already know or an established entreprenuer, right?
I remember back in 1999, when we try to pitch a plan to a VC, we either did not get into the door, or the purported VC we spoke to are not serious, fishing for business plans on the market, or even just VC brokers who try to make a buck by brokering deals between potential startups and VCs. This is very much like employers abusing desperate potential employees with a project assignement and hence get some de facto free consultation. How naive we have been 
I think an extreprenuer should spent more taking getting customers and sales, and if profits comes in, the rest will take care of itself.
