put in 80-90 hours a week, and only if you make money you get a good bonus. The average hourly pay might not be all that great.
Plus the bonus structure is very top heavy, I know a SMD at GS had a 12M Bonus this year. If he is getting that, the average grunts are not getting 600k.
Most traders leave after 5-10 years, but majority can hardly retire, most go somewhere else like the buy side. During those 5-10 years, you have no time for family/kids, IBank life is definitely overly glorified.
