A country reflects the people who build and live in it.
Looking at all the Anglo nations, they are more and less alike - two parties politics, law binding, god fearing to certain extend, easy to trust strangers but keep in an arm length in long term relationship, low barrier to trade with others, etc.

So we can predict China will like an East Asia country after all - it will more and less like its coracialists like Japan, Korean, and other Chinese nations today. Even Vietnam today is more and less like China 10-20 years ago.

For prediting India's future performance, I am less sure, we have to look at its coracialists like Pak, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. which are not very promising today and in the near future, IMHO. The prosperous Indians making headlines today are mainly Brahmins, which has less than 4% of Indian polulation.
Money knows better than wishful thinking liberals. A tiny Vietnam has the same FDI as India does.
