sure i agree.
although i just stayed in canada for a littel more than 3years, i still felt similar language problem after i came back. sometimes a little bit low in expressing myself in chinese, sometimes totally failed to find the proper words to present viewpoints. if i stayed in there for 5years, then definately,there'd an impact in language.
the thing is, if you don't use a language for long,then you got to be slow at least in terms of language presentation.whatever language you use, as long as you use it a lot, u got to be habitually tend to think and use it as the first prioritized language. i think that's human nature. can't do much about it (yeah sad to even think).
so, im not so surprised at your situation. and also, don't forget language developes all the time. some new pop words you might not have realized. and that's not ur fault at all. compete with local chinese writer u don't have an advantage. im kidding, don't be disappointed too much. anyway, writing is just for fun for you...
