you are right: i need to pick it back up again
language is a craft, there are some skill to it.
i used to be pretty good N years ago but lost after abandoned for so long
traveller is right: i am getting better, but yet...
i have a friend who's a editor in chief and declared: anyone stay outside china for over 5 years and send in articles for publishing, there has to be a big job to polish up: afterall, it is two different kind of structure, logics, not just direct translation of words.
those who watch hongkong movies in cantonese and then watch it in manderin, tell me it is still funny! i would say you are a lier!
by the same token, watch american movies in english version and then the chinese dubbed...can you tell me it is the same?!
this is why we may never be great english while we lose our own language by not using it often enough. sad, right? i think we all have the same prob just matter of different extent, if you have been outside for a while and stopped practicing your craft....
