The ultimate judge are those millions shareholders, who are idiotic and irrational anyway. And to be honest, the industry and the business moves up or down, or sideway, with or without you, bullshit or no shit.
The thing is: don't overthink the importance of youself or "your skills". In the big picture of things, your skills is irrelavant. What you need to do is to secure a good cut out of the flow of fortune, for youself, or maybe for your company, before the party is over. Every industry goes through cycles, good time seldom lasts more than 5 years.
Get it before it is over. In the long term, we are all dead.
