It was very nice of you to spend the time in giving us more of your thoughts. I agree with you on your points even though materialism has become more of a commonplace in "socialist" China as well as in capitalist US.
I think what I am trying to say is that those who are under severe poverty or receiving extremely unfair compensations for their contributions to the society can hardly have much spiritual happiness. For instance, those reported in "我们不该遗忘的人——转贴", which was posted here earlier, might not really have too much happiness in their life even though they might be very proud of their accomplishment and contributions to the society. At least, I feel sad for them. I believe they would have been much happier if they had been treated both spiritually and materially more fair.
Well, I hope you would agree with me that sometimes fair material compensation may help us become spiritually even happier.
