I do believe it is an opportunity to do private equity in China. A high growth and unsophisicated financial market means arbitrage opportunity. For people who are interested in seeking opportunities but don't have enough connection/experience, the best approach is to do i-banking in Hong Kong or join a top 3 consulting firm in Shanghai/beijing. Quite a few of alumni from my bschool did that and they were successful. I-bank and top 3 consulting firms will honor a global pay scale.
For example, a few of my classmates received offers from i-bank in Hong Kong with a base in $95,000 and $30,000 sign on bonus. They will also receive a huge year end bonus as well. It is similiar pay in consulting.
