Amway has been a story back at US, but a dead product in the US could be a cash cow in China with good marketing. Nutrition food and other products like Amway's, are all "new" things in China. some PH.D told me the products are just like P&G's, production cost is very low, the very big portion of cost is at channel.
So nothing wrong with "Multi-level Channel Marketing," (is it called like this? 直销),as long as consumers accept to pay so much to the channel, in this case, your sister and her boss, and her boss's boss, and so on...
