这里是一个不久前发生的事情, 警察入宅瞬间射杀一身高1.46米,重90磅(或98磅)的两个孩子的母亲.
入宅的唯一合法程序就是有人打电话请警察来帮助.别说公民开枪自卫了,此小母亲手中只有一做事用的PEELER(如下),就遭枪击至死的命运.
请注意以下的文摘中,警察的描述和证人的描述很不一样. 证人说警察进门"嗨,嗨"两声立马就开枪. 警察说警告后七秒后才开枪. 即使警察警告了,小母亲也不怎么懂英文. 警察说小母亲当时正向他挥舞PEELER. 但开枪时,只有警察进了门,其他人还没来的及跟进去,因此无法证实.
相信警察说的就无罪,相信证人说的就会有罪. 最后大陪审团判警察无罪.
这个案子起诉,很大原因是因为报纸跟踪报道了,报纸报道也因为越南人在这里有很大的社区. 警方不起诉无法向社区交代, 但以当时警察局宣布起诉新闻时的口气, 我就预感警方有很大的胜算, 果然如此. 要是没人关心,警方也未必起诉这个案子.
还有其他类似的例子, 只是没时间写了. 个人看法,无意争对错,只是希望大家多知道一些,不要在这方面吃亏而已.

"Tran, 25, was killed after a neighbor called the police over concerns about Tran's toddler son playing unsupervised outside their apartment. A second call complained about a possible argument between Tran and her boyfriend, Dang Bui.
By the time the police arrived, her two sons were inside the apartment. Marshall entered the building and saw Tran, standing in the kitchen about 7 feet to his right with a kitchen utensil in her hand. Marshall later testified that he thought she was waving a cleaver at him and that he twice instructed her to drop it. He estimated that he shot Tran within five to seven seconds of entering the apartment.
The utensil turned out to be a dao bao, a vegetable peeler commonly used throughout Asia, which has a wooden handle and 6-inch metal extension. "

"On July 13, 2003, Cau Thi Bich Tran, a 25-year-old mother of two, was shot and killed by San Jose Police within seconds of their arrival at her apartment. According to media reports, the police had been called to Ms. Tran’s residence in response to a neighbor’s report of an unsupervised child wandering in the street. Ms. Tran had locked herself out of her bedroom and was trying to jimmie the lock with a dao bao, a common Vietnamese vegetable peeler. Ms. Tran, who had always looked to the police for assistance, had ironically called 911 as well to ask the police for their assistance in regaining entry to the bedroom.
Upon arrival of the police, they saw Ms. Tran holding the dao bao. According to one witness, Ms. Tran was gesturing towards the locked door trying to explain the situation. But Officer Chad Marshall thought that she raised the dao bao in a threatening manner. He shouted “Hey, hey, hey!” and within seconds shot her in the heart without ever identifying himself or ordering her to drop the peeler according to a witness on the scene. Though she was still six to seven feet away, the police feared that the 4’11” 90 lb Tran might throw the dao bao. Thus instead of retreating, using voice commands, tasers, baton or pepper spray, Officer Marshall chose to escalate to deadly force by firing his gun, killing this young mother of two who thought the police had come to assist her.
Dang Bui, Tran’s significant other, told reporters that he “saw Tran fall to the tile floor… He thought the officer must have fired his gun in the air and that Tran had simply fainted.” He couldn’t even imagine that an officer would shoot to kill in this situation. "
