You don’t need apologize to the whole company. You can have a private meeting with your boss to discussed lessons learned. He is responsible to put off the fire. Your boss is probably inexperienced on this, if he is not a moron!
It was such an important public relation event. And he put the whole responsibility to you?!
I am not saying that you are not capable. The fact that you were assigned the task is an indication of your great potential. You are just not experienced enough to perform the whole thing by yourself. Where is the supervision? Did your boss discussed with you on planning? Was there a plan? Reagan funeral plan have 140 pages with every detail, protocols.
Lessons learned:
You company shall get help from a professional firm or people who have experiences for such important event. This is where you can spend part of your RMB 160k.
There shall be a plan, the plan shall be reviewed, approved ands enforced by your management.
There shall be assigned responsibilities to a team. Who does what, when and how?
You toke a responsibility that is more than you can handle, but it is a great experience anyway.
