从中国传统对交换媒介的称呼“金钱”文意来看，只有金（银）才是具有内在价值的钱。人类有史以来，除美国联邦储备卷(US FRN$)外都灰飞烟灭。戴高乐以法国手中盈余通对黄金的方式逼迫尼克松彻底把FRN$变成了纸钱至今已三十余年了，据称这是人类有史以来最长的。
Literally, from China's traditional naming of the exchange medium of Jin Qian, we can extract that only Au/Ag, or anything else, of intrinsic value could be treated as money, in addition to, of course, the things are easy to transfer and to be stored. All paper money, or fiat money, had died except for the newest version of US Federal Reserve Note dollar. Since de Galle forced Nixon to strip the FRN$ from Au, FRN$ as a paper money has lived over 30 years, the longest of such in human history.
而美国的总债务已是其GDP的800%左右（搜GAO Walker)。1929时也只有290%左右。美国联邦储备卷作为单一储备货币的时间恐怕不多了。
At present, the total debt of US, if you count its government's obligations as Mr. Walker of the GAO of US congress does, is about 800% of its GDP. US FRN$ as the single reserve currency would possibly not last for long, I am afraid.
FRN$ is close to achieve its long-term goals, it had rotten to the bone for some time, now it entered the dying process to show its true face.
One can argue Au is not an investment, as Richard Russell frequently put it as an insurance. But from an investment point of view, anything one lays out that results in a gain is investing. For me, I hoard Au/Ag physicals mainly for insurance purpose, and leverage my capitals in PM stocks, Au/Ag contract for investment. One more point, as I have to be off my desk in minutes, that I would like to share with you is that Bill Gross just mentioned the financial "leverage" of global finance has reached its limit, although he had constantly refused to acknowledge so until now.
