Key Responsibilities
• Understand the scope of work and estimate the effort using the standard methodologies
• Develop/support J2EE based web applications running on Websphere
• Ensure that work performed within the group is as per development standards and completed within the overall SLAs agreed with the business
• Lead a project(s) independently with complete delivery responsibility
• Raising the productivity and quality of development teams by promoting high standards and best practices
• Ensure adherence to processes and assist in facilitating the ongoing review and enhancement of these processes.
• Works under minimal supervision to meet goals set by management
• Support and mentor fellow team members
Experience and Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• 6 - 8 years overall ‘hands on’ experience of software analysis, estimation, design, development, testing and maintenance
• At least 5 years of Java/J2EE development or support experience and willing to work in project maintenance activities.
• Expertise in JSP, HTML, Javascript (Front end technologies) and frameworks like Struts, Spring, and Hibernate
• Experience on Websphere Application Server v5.1/6.0 on Unix/Windows
• Experience on standard IDE tool like Web Sphere Application Development or RAD
• Understanding of Object Oriented design with the ability to comfortably navigate around an existing large Web Application
• Good knowledge of SQL with some hands on experience
• Exposure to change management & release management concepts
Desirable Qualifications:
• Practical experience in using the Struts+ framework
• Experience & good understanding of full development life cycle
• Experience in troubleshooting applications
• Experience in the use of a source control management system like PVCS, SVN, Clearcase
• Exposure to Unix Shell scripting
• Sun Java certification a strong plus
• Exposure to reporting tool like Actuate is highly desirable

• Proven ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment
• The successful candidate must be motivated, fast learner, flexible, willing to assume responsibility, and deliver quality work on time
