Real Estate Law in China is primarily intended as a general introduction to the real estate law in China from the perspective of enterprises with foreign investment, foreign companies and individuals.

The book begins with a description of the development of the land and property system in the PRC, divided into three stages: 1949 to 1978 when land was primarily allocated to land users without compensation and for an indefinite time; 1979 to 1990 when land was used by foreign investment enterprises for compensation; and 1990 onwards when land has been granted or transferred to land users for consideration and for a fixed term. From Chapter 3 onwards, the book maps out the entire process of carrying out a property development project in China, starting from the establishment of a foreign investment real estate enterprise, continuing with the planning, design and construction, moving on to the sale and leasing of uncompleted/completed buildings and finally to the management of completed buildings.

This book also covers how such a foreign investment real estate enterprise finances its project, real property intermediary services, real property related taxation, and property related dispute settlement.

此书1998出版,不够新,但对于有兴趣了解中国房地产,又比较习惯用英语思维的读者来说,可以通过不算特别繁重的阅读,得到一个中国房地产法律和实务大致的轮廓。
