Something has to be terribly wrong to bring up moral value in this forum. After all, the purpose of the forum is to have people get drunk and do something largely immoral.
I have long passed the age for debating. Comes along with the age is the understanding that it never worth to convince someone of something because it rarely works. People don’t grow into their believing overnight but the deposit of life time, especially intelligent ones. For most thing in life, there is no right or wrong but if works or not for one. But somehow I feel so strong about the topic that I have to write this piece.
I admire Lao Zhong greatly for what he does, not necessarily what he says. He reached into his own pocket to enable the young people to see where they otherwise may not be able to see, reach what they otherwise may not be able to reach. He did that for over a decade. That is the great achievement none others in the forum has ever done. Lao Zhong has earned my respect.
Just like my post won’t change anyone’s mind, I don’t know if what Lao Zhong said would change those girls’ decision to do or not to do. He, however, does lay out the good and bad that could happens drawn from his experience as he said in his post. It may not fit into someone’s idea, but I failed to see how that is their business to judge. None has invested in those girls like Lao Zhong did, or even knows them at all, yet they want to something about right or wrong.
What really bothers me is the idea of that those girls much have chosen the wrong path if they failed to take the same path as someone here or there. “If I did it, you should do it” or ever “if someone else like Jobs or Gates did so you should do or die trying” are so convenient and so true it has to be used. It never cease to amuse me the most is that for some it is so wrong for a girl to sleep with someone worth millions or less, but so glorious or romance with someone worth tens of millions or billions like Murdoch’s wife. On that token, Lao Zhong is so wrong not to advice the girl to look for billionaires but settle on someone merely millions.
The girls are adults and are capable of making their own decisions, right or wrong, and live with the consequences. There is no need for others to give them lectures about how they should live or about moral values. Few of people here are qualified to claim the moral high ground or they won’t be here to begin with. Money doesn’t give one an escalator to the moral high ground, how you spend the money sometime does.
