Functional Area: Research & Development



Mission/Purpose of Position:

Manage the R&D department for Speed, Inertial and Advanced Sensor Applications in Changchun.

Make sure that Customer Application projects run on a high level of quality and efficiency. Strategize R&D focus on China market requirements as well as on international standardization.



Dimensions/Organization Magnitude:

Local R&D department as a part of world wide organization with a total of 10 locations and HQ in Frankfurt

Application Center for Asia with full responsibility for Chinese OEM projects and full committed support to Japanese and Korean R…&D groups



Number of reporting position: 30-40



Task Area and Main Task

-Manage Changchun Speed Sensors R&D Organization (Full Responsibility)

Main Task:

Set and control strategy and targets for all organizational sub-units

Manage all personnel issues (hiring, personnel development…), make sure that fluctuation rate out of R&D is below average

Constantly grow level of know how and experience of R&D organization

Manage local R&D resources to reach best efficiency, escalate in time to management in case of problems

Support budget planning process and control R&D budget in scope of responsibility



-Manage Development Processes (Shared Responsibility)

Main Task:

Introduce and consequently apply R&D processes in alignment with Frankfurt HQ and ww team

Support development and improvement of ww R&D processes to consider Chinese local specific



-Perform Speed Sensor Application for Chinese OEM (Full Responsibility)

Main Task:

Provide punctual high quality product descriptions in line with ww standards for quotes

Follow existing processes (PLC) for all application projects

Make sure that quality, timeliness and cost efficiency of application activities are on highest level



-Cooperation with Other Locations (Shared Responsibility)

Main Task:

Provide dedicated resources as support groups for Yokohama and Cheongwon engineering organizations

Establish and constantly improve communication and cooperation to production plant LYG



-Support Running Production (Full Responsibility)

Main Task:

Ensure that sufficient support to running production is provided for all products running in LYG and in CC FF Sensorics



-Support Global Speed Sensor Strategy (Full Responsibility)

Main Task:

Ensure that local impacts to Speed Sensor Standards are communicated to worldwide team

Support and perform development of local products (2WSS) and variants (e.g. low cost sensor with low spec ...) in alignment with segment management



-Strategize R&D focus on China market requirements (Shared Responsibility)

Main Task:

Strategize and Deploy product designs and R&D support fitting to China market requirements at a high competiveness level.

Secure future growth.



Competence (Knowledge and Experience) and Level

Required Knowledge (Technical, Specialized, and /or Methodical)

Management Methods / Leadership skills (Expert Level)

Automotive Application Knowhow including standard processes (Expert Level)

Speed- / Position Sensor knowhow (Advanced Level)

Mechanical Packaging Knowhow like plastic mold, assembly and connection technologies (Advanced Level)

Business Knowledge (Basic Level)

English Language (oral and written) (Expert Level)

Intercultural Experience (Japan, Europe, NAFTA) ((Advanced Level)



Required Experience (Minimum)

Education/Certification: At least bachelor degree of technology

Professional Experience: above 5 years of working experiences in field of automotive application management or similar

Project and/or Process Experience: experience in automotive application, automotive development, project management

Leadership Experience: managed more than 10 employees successfully for at least 3 years

Intercultural/ International Experience: Experience with foreign colleagues
