Vacancy Title: Engineering Manager – Device Provisioning

Key Job Responsibilities:
Direct line management of approximately 20+ software engineers, including Technical Architect and Project Manager(s).
Drive the development of ownership of evolving technology architecture and technology implementation. This will include contributing to delivery planning, resource planning, and project initiation with a strong commitment delivery
Recruit, retain and meet the headcount target
Coach, and develop staff within the group
Deliver and deploy of software components predictably into the Symbian OS releases.
Develop long term customer relationships within Technology area to ensure the ongoing success of the team.
Develop an ongoing relationship with global Symbian sites including other software Technology groups and Product Management
Manage defect level and their turn around whilst constantly improving the customer experience
Manage team budgets.
Lead and facilitate the evolution of product quality through the development of a strong quality culture.
Driving up the delivery capability of the team through leadership.
Interpreting, presenting and achieving high level goals through your team
Must be prepared to work flexibly in this global economy to achieve the best business results
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor/Master Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Telecom related discipline.
Proven capability of line management with more than 5 years experience of People and Line Management in a Software Engineering or Telecom related industry or equivalent competencies
Experience of working with recognized development processes and exposure to all stages of the Software Development Lifecycle.
Proven concept-to-delivery expertise and experience in delivering a large, complex system.
Can demonstrate extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of technologies utilized in Engineering or Telecom related industries.
Experience in working with remote teams, across geographic locations
Experience of Project Management
The ability to motivate and drive teams
Leadership and Interpersonal communication skills
Excellent written and verbal command of the English language.
The ability to develop and structure a new team to deliver results.
Strategic thinker
Preferred:
PRINCE. PMP or other PM recognized methodology qualification.
Mobile phone OS development
Direct knowledge of Device Management or Client Provisioning standards
Knowledge of the OMA and their standards or equivalent technologies and standards bodies
Knowledge of proprietary solutions for Device Management and/ or Client Provisioning
About the Team:
The Device Provisioning Technology Stream is responsible for the primary technologies (OMA Device Management and Client Provisioning) used to remotely manage mobile devices. These standardised technologies are in the early stages of industry adoption throughout the main markets used by Symbian devices. There is a need for ongoing development, optimization, enhancement, and extension of the set of Device Provisioning APIs and supporting architecture to meet the growing demands of network operators and handset manufactures. Your role will contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Symbian OS.
