Western culture encourages people to compete equally with each other at the same starting level. It's a fair game. It also values the independence very much. But in our traditional Chinese culture, to some extent, many of us not only don't think people should play the game fairly, but also tend to feel proud to have some advantage/privilege over other people in those games.
