What it does is prefecthing links' content. This may look like a nice idea but it is not well implemented. For instance, if web page contains 'delete' links, it also tries opening them then some of your documents/data may get deleted inadvertently.
So I delete it permanently and never look back. Some of google's products work great, but there're a lot of them always stuck in the beta stage and suck.
