they send registration emails to all the addresses they can find. and the email content let you feel that you need to at least reply. then they know the email address is definitely active.
I feel sad that this is another example of how chinese elites take advantage of other people. unfortunately many companies do that: sina, netease, yiqu (chinese ebay), etc.
