If you happen to know friends who are residents of Suzhou, they might have some extra vouchers to those gardens -- they're called "Yuan Lin Quan" in Chinese, and are basically free garden entrance tickets that are distributed to Suzhou residents each year. Most residents don't use up their vouchers.
If they still exist, you might be able to save a lot of money... Entrance to gardens in Suzhou is expensive, and most places can easily go up to 25-30 RMB per person.
