1)I guess it is human nature that 看到杀害中国人的照片,上面的人几乎全是目无表情,不反抗,也不恐惧,好象早已经死了. Same things happened to Jewish people at Natzi death camps. But on the other hand, Jewish people didn't have a formal government and any military forces at that time;
2)但我们是下风的. That is very true! So the lesson we must learn from this is we got to win for the next war!! I hope someday China will be able to pay back Japan this "favor."
3)政府已经在悄悄撤退了. I have to admit at that time we had a weakling government engaging domestic unrest and wars. During one defence conference run by President Jiang in Nanjing, he asked around three dozen generals who would like to defend Nanjing against the marching Japanese troups, there was a long embarrasing silence. Finally General Tan Sun Zhi stood up to take the commanding position. You know what, he was the first one to escape!! On the other hand, as a son from a family with Huang Pu spirits (different than Emperor's Huang Pu though) which fought against Japanese army to the final days of victory, I can give you many facts about this war from the real life experience from my dad, my uncle and their friends that zillions of Chinese tried their very best to fight against Japan during the WWII. Many of them gave their lives for it!! I remember one time I asked my dad which day was your happiest day in your life. My dad said without any hesitation that was the day Japan surrended! My mom sitting next to us was not happy though.
