If you up your budget to around $150, then there will be plenty of choices on bbonline. If you want to save, can try to stay at Marine, which is a Korean community 10 minutes away from Carmel along the Monterey coastline. I stayed at Carmel a few times on corporate boondoggle occasions, so I won't recommend any of them.
If you have >2 days to spare, I'd suggest going further north to Humboldt County, people are just so cramped up down here all the way from Big Sur to Mendicino, and I assure you, they are not the best part of CA, they are just easy to get to.
