Thank you for your good analysis - but please read other posts downstairs before you make any further guess, the answer has been provided.
The waitress are not from China, I swear; nor are they from Philippines (mind you, double check your spelling) - although close.
If you think people with dark skin are peasants, you're wrong, darn wrong.
Who says visitors there didn't enjoy the sunset? And what's wrong with taking pictures? I'd imagine anyone who can afford a camera would like to keep some good memory by taking pictures.
Again, don't take it for granted all the people in the picture are Chinese, or from China. Most of the young generation in east Asia dress alike today.
The only thing you got right is about the author - I'm male, and I'm a turtle. As to why I didn't adjust the time setting on my camera? Search some of my old posts and you'll get it.
However, I don't get the last part of your analysis - are you suggesting male should instead concentrate on the front end of young female?
