I consider myself amateurish, at least much more so than you are in most aspects. A quick comment on johndoe's developing an edge: This is indeed as hard as in any competitive sports. But as throughout the history of sports, much could be learned from legendary players, coaches, and teams.
"Wall Street" (starring Mike Douglas) happened to be the first video I watched upon my arrival in this land. It has since taken me years to reconcile myself to the spirit of free capitalism embodied in Gordon Gekko. As I venture to share on this BBS what I have come to see in modern finance, I welcome diverging views from everyone, especially those who take into their hands the management of their own money, freedom and destinies.
I am not hanging out anywhere else and not able to contribute much here either. One thing I like about this place is virtuosos here dare to speak their minds, what they have seen firsthand and what they have experienced personally.
In comparison with what you've learned in the hard school of experience and generously shared with others, much of what I've got to say is picked up from bedtime reading.... (2 politically oriented book titles and praises deleted as the presidential election draws close).
