Different things. If you want to short treasury, its much easier to buy inverse etf than actually shorting. Also the yields are pretty low now, unless US goes into Japanese interest rate territory, I am not sure how much lower can it go, 10 year is at 2.5 already.
As for being leveraged, guess if I think something is going certain way, this is the risk I am willing to tolerate. Than again, I am a bit of gambler, might not be for everyone, remember DXO? made some good money until they shut it down.
