“MIT announced research they say shows that magnetic pulses directed at your brain can affect your “moral compass”. Perhaps this is the reason people driving cars with cell phones up against their heads are such idiots. Now anything coming from the MIT media department I take with a grain of salt, seeing as how these are the same people that claim that electrolysis will solve the worlds energy problems and that induction is some new invention that will allow wireless power transfer with no losses. Still, we should not discount the research just because the MIT Board of Regents has told the press department to hype every single thing MIT does as a major discovery.
I used to be pretty jaded about people claiming that cell phones can cause brain cancer. That was based on the typical analysis of how much energy it takes to break and atomic bond. The thinking was that if the RF could not break an protein in half, there was no way it could trigger cancer. Lately I am more circumspect in my opinions about cell phone radiation. After all, the human body is an extremely complex electro-chemical machine. There has been some research that shows that magnet fields can affect cell behavior, and we all know that birds and bees may be able to navigate in part due to magnetic fields. So I will not be so quick to discount this research.
