这本书是作者对如下问题的思考和回答:why do some people achieve so much more than others? What’s the secrete of geniuses and their successes? (拼音敲汉字太慢了,下面改英文了。 献丑。) The book tries to explain the seemingly inexplicable extraordinary successes, typically attributed to genius and individual triumph, such as The Beatles and the success of the Jewish people in the US. It even has a chapter on why the Korean Airlines had such high rate of plane crashes!
One of the chapters in the book is on a common myth/puzzle in the west: why are the Chinese so good at mathematics? The title of the chapter is “Rice Paddies and Math Test.” I believe it sheds a bright light on certain characteristics of our people and makes me reflect on why the housing price is so lying outside of the economic norm in the China. I think deep down it has something to do with “being Chinese,” just as there are above-normal number Chinese/Asian gamblers in Las Vegas. Maybe someone here with a background in comparative culture can give a coherent account for the abnormal housing pricing prices in China.
