1.你考的只是salesperson license， 你必须要挂靠一个broker名下。
2.现在说说你要花的时间和金钱， 上大概多少小时的课（各州规定不同，大约60小时）， 然后考试，考过后，要找到一个broker，broker要在你申请salesperson license的表格上签字，以上说的三项都要交钱。
3.一般你拿到icense后， 还要加入a real estate local board, otherwise you may not have access to the properties. local board will charge annual due. 不知道在加州在市场上卖的房子都挂什么样的锁（listing agent nomally will put a lock-box on somewhere of the property so the buyer agent will show it easily. so as buyer agent you have to have access to open the lock-box)
4.i know everyone can search properties online right now but it wouldn't show the showing instruction which only shows on realestate professional's MLS(multiple listing system), such as "big dog in the ba<x>sement or any room", "don't let cat out" or "no show before 11am" etc. As licensee you have to pay to use MLS.
5. after all, you showed a house to yourself and you love it, you have to write a contract( i have no idea who write contact in CA. In NY is the lawyer)so you bought it, you have to split the commssion you got with your broker(different broker has different split).
So i think if you prepare to house hunting for a long period of time (such as 3-5 years) than get a license for yourself. Otherwise the real estate agent will hate you.
If you just want to get it done in 6 months then find a good agent and get a house.
Nothing perfect! well，i take that back. To you and me ,we can't afford perfect thing in real estate. Maybe Steve Jobs can. So you have to think which 2-3 elements are very important to you.
