Job Description:
Alibaba is the largest B2B search engine and marketplace on the web. The Advertising and Search Center (ASC, https://asc.alibaba.com) of Alibaba works on developing the world-class search technologies that will power one of the largest e-business ecosystems. As a researcher at ASC, you will continuously improve user experience of Alibaba search engine and conduct research in the broad areas of search sciences like query mining, machine learning-based ranking, topic extraction and more.
Job Responsibilities:
* Enhance core components of Alibaba search-related products including search relevance, content matching, user behavior modeling and mining, etc so as to improve user experience.
* Work closely with product managers and other engineering teams at ASC to define, architect, and develop R&D projects
* Boost the technology reputation and IP of Alibaba as well as attract top talents by filing patents.
Required Qualifications:
A qualified candidate should have extensive experiences in search industry.
The ideal candidate should have strong communication and problem solving skills and ability to collaborate with teams across multiple geographic regions, in addition to team and people management experience.
Prior experience with information retrieval and natural language process, good understanding of search engine and audience targeting technologies and expertise in machine learning are required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
A Master's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required. PhD's degree preferred. China experience is a must.
