Which is a usual way to handle issues like this. Does FTC require only one can be reported at a time?
When filing lawsuits, usually file against everyone involved, no matter how remote they are, which is the Deep Pocket Theory that everyone in the industry should know. Because your purpose is to get the money back, you don't care which pocket get the money out, though usually from the fattest one.
Just like medical doctors, lawyers all have their specialties. From what I read, my guess is you didin't get a lawyer specilize in class action or investment. And Yes, they are expensive, but considering that you have $100k there, it's worth to get a good lawyer, it's common practice to get the deposit first to start working on your case. Generally speaking, if your case is less than $10k-20k, it may not worth to file a lawsuit.
It's a good lesson for everyone here. That's why we need to watch out for where we store/put our money at. Just like smaller banks usually give higher interest rate for the higher risk you may have--even though they may also have FDIC. But we all know how long it takes to get money back from the goverment.
