I am on the same boat as you, in the dilemma of making the final decision, not if, but when and how.
Looks like there are three types of so called HaiGui: 1. who is expatriate 2. who is going to open their own business(either with capital or with some expertise or superior connections) 3. who is really go back to looking for a JOB
I would assume the third category is the majority (Interesting enough, not many people who are in this category show up here). And from what I know, 20k YMB/month is considered high income for HaiGui nowadays.
I am male with MBA and CS Master Degree, have few years marketing experience in both China and US, but the majority of my experience in US is software engineer. Now I am PM for a small software company in Southern California.
I determined to go back to China, but in the dilemma of decide when and how. If I just simply go back now, I would guess all my experience here will be valued with huge discount; however, waiting the right opportunity is a very frustrated experience with no definite answer.
Anyway, in the final, nobody can make the decision but us. The personal career goal, families, and other important factors have to be well balanced.
Well, it is easier to talk!
Good luck to all of us.
