Sometimes I think it is also related to sentiment of the market, like the dot com boom, there is really no reason for its occurance if purely based on PE ratio, cash flow etc..
I think once the internet is available and being widely used, the stock market and housing market is forever changed, it is because information is available so easily.
It is so easy for people to get so called expert information, trade by themselves, either believe it is time to rise, or it is time to fall. No one wants to miss the boat, or jumps out off the building.
I think the above factor could be called market or people's sentiment.
I haven't spent time on it for a long time now, but I have heard people I know say that it is not short term low yet.
