Actually Giorgio Armani carries 5 lines for manswear. The top/most expensive is Armani Classico (commonly refered as Blue label). The next line below is Giorgio Armani Black Label (Bourgonuovo 21 - address of Armani's HQ??). They both are licensed off and made by Vestimenta, Spa. (BTW, Vestimenta also sells its own lable in North America, Hiltion label in Europe). Those two lines are decent, in my book anyways. I heard only the Armani Classico line needs to get Armani's nod before getting out the door. The middle tier is Armani Collezioni (white lable that enjoys much wide distribution, priced at $1500 - $2000 in North Amerca. Collezioni is a hit and a miss. (some are made in Italy, others are made in Turkey, some are full cavassed, aka floating canvass, and others are fused). As Regards to its quality, not to its cut, it is definitely one of the most over priced suit that one can find. Emporio Amani and Mani are utter junks. I won't touch them with a ten foot pole.
If you enjoy Armani's distinctive cut, that is absolutely fine. Does suit qulity matter? To me, it is second to fit.
One have to give Giorgio Armani credit for his vision/business savvy...He is not even tailored-trained. He started as a sales clerk at “La Rinascente”, then to a assistant buyer...and today he owns an fashsion powerhouse.
BTW, Hugo Boss suit is another example of inferior quality. All of them are fused. While the work Baldessari (top line of the Hugo Boss family) are well respected.
