For most chinese who have lived in the usa for long, the likelyhood for him/her to link the killer with him/herself decreases significantly. For myself, I thought about it and then that's it.
If you mean we should have protested the Chicago Suntimes, yes you are right. We should yet we haven't. But it would mainly be caused by our selfishness of hesitating to contribute our own efforts to our race/nationality, laziness, maybe forgiveness (people would tend to think "there is all kinds of people in the usa and they can say whatever they want") ... I doubt fear would be among the top 3 reasons.
