Nice post...Keen observation.
Given the total market cap of China A shares and development of mass fund investment in stocks, it is unthinkable there is no way to hedge or short trade at least the stock index. In this regard, China is so far behind India, Singapore, even Thailand.
It is ironic China manages its stock market the way it is. Instead of providing all the products and openness for the market to do its job, the govt wants to have the last say and manipulation power, because it still thinks the govt is smarter than the market.
There is speculation that China will delay its launch of the index future product because fear of misuse.
How can you build a car with a powerful engine but not adequate brake ? Such a simple common sense no one seems able to grasp, what a pity !!
