since R-Squared is too low, i don't think alpha and beta counts too much in this case. BTW it's beta is 0.1131, alpha is 18.33%.
Typically hedge fund's performance has low correlation with market.
i would say 33 times in 8 years is substantially better than Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway performance but also with higher risk. (Berkshire Hathaway's 10 year growth from 36000 - 109200, which is 3.x times)
also the average growth for an equity long/short hedge fund (probably this fund's style) from 1990- 2004 is 11 times.
If you are willing to risk a portion of your investment, this fund is not a bad choice.
