Money should not be the primary factor of choosing a job at least at when you are young.
With my very limited experience: People advanced the most are the ones who took the most challenging job or the job they like the most instead of a stable or a better paid job.
After years, the difference are shown. People seemed earning a bit less at the very beginning are in a much better position because they have grown with the more challenging jobs, or they become really good at something in their fields.
