life style similar to 100K in LA or 120K in San Francisco. or 15K in ChongQing.

With 40K USD in BJ, you can fell the power of money. But 100k in LA? an average Joe next door?

I do however want to point out that comparing the housing situation in BJ and most part of the US is unfair. Most of the people in BJ lives in apartments which I consider very confortable while most of the people in the US lives in a house. Therefore, it is only fair to compare an average apartment rental in BJ (2500 - 3000 RMB) to an average house rental in the US (1500 - 2000 USD).
