Language is one of the major elements of the Origin of the nations, this is really way beyond the law against discrimination !】
LPGA says English is required language
By Steve DiMeglio, USA TODAY
For many years, the LPGA tour has impressed upon its membership the significance of communicating efficiently in English. By the end of 2009, it will be mandatory.
The LPGA is adopting a policy that will require its member golfers to speak English or face suspension. All players who have been on the tour for two years could be suspended if they fail to pass an oral evaluation of their English proficiency starting at the end of the 2009 season. The tour announced the policy to its South Korean membership in a mandatory meeting Aug. 20 and has spoken to many players from other countries.

GAME ON! BLOG: Speaking LPGA's language of choice
There are 121 foreign players from 26 countries, 45 from South Korea.
"We're focusing on the fact that we're in the sports entertainment business and we have to interact with fans and sponsors," LPGA deputy commissioner Libba Galloway said. "We want to emphasize to our players that they need to be approachable.
"This is not meant to be punitive in any way. There are very few players who don't speak English. We don't think suspensions will happen, but if they do, we're not going to say, 'Boom, go home and try again next year.' We'll work with them on identifying areas for improvement."
The tour in 2007 established a program that includes tutoring services available to players and language-learning software from the Rosetta Stone Language Program.
"I think it's important to make an effort to learn English," said Se Ri Pak, a Hall of Famer and pioneer for South Korean players. "But I don't think you should get suspended or lose your status. Maybe fines."
The policy is a "bold statement," said David Carter, a sports marketing consultant in Los Angeles.
"I had to step back and say, 'That's pretty drastic,' " he said. "But from a business standpoint, they need to do that. The ability to secure sponsors is a function of how well you're known and how well you communicate."
