JOB TITLE: Solution Architecture
DEPARTMENT: Technical Pre-Sales
TITLE OF SUPERVISOR: Head of Technical Pre-Sales
Location:beijing
Primary Purpose of the Position
(Briefly state why the position exists)
Individual will be part of the China Pre-Sales Group. The candidate will be the solution Architecture responsible to of all Technical pre-sales activities that has with CMCC/China Unicom/China Telecom Operating Companies.
Fluent in English, both oral and written.
Strong customer orientation, permanently willing to go a number of steps beyond the customer’s requirements.
Experience working with customers, mobile operators would be ideal.
The candidate needs to have TCP/IP skills with proven experience in data networking using Cisco/Nortel routers and switches, designing and deploying total systems solutions.
Network Services products are always deployed in the Gi network (behind the GGSN) hence an individual with experience in this space is highly appreciated.
Products deal with OSI l<x>ayers 1-7.
The individual will also be responsible to understand and be familiarised with the products (Optimisation Service Node and UNISON Architecture)
Strong customer facing skills is a must and flexibility for travelling around China.
Main Duties of the Position
(List in order of importance, if possible)
• Manage the CMCC technical solution
• The candidate has to prove previous experience working with CMCC (as a vendor or as an employee).
• Interface with the customer technical communities (Architecture Team, Operations, Support, etc)
• Work in the Technical Pre-sales team along side with the Sales/Account Manager
• The candidate will be responsible to run technical presentation, responsible for trials of the product.
• TCP/IP Network Design, including component selection
• TCP/IP Network Performance analysis
• Interface with internal development and 3rd party designers for design specifications and expertise
• Planning and design of TCP/IP computer networks with wireless components
• Solution documentation and authoring of technical white papers
• Network analysis and decode of TCP/IP protocol stacks in trouble shooting scenarios
Knowledge
Describe the total knowledge required in terms of formal education and work related experience necessary to perform satisfactorily the duties of the position. Education should be defined as the minimum level necessary; this education may have been acquired through formal study. Experience should describe the length of time typically required to learn to perform the duties effectively; this should include full details of previous qualifying experience on related work, or lesser jobs, and the time period of adjustment and adaptation needed to effectively perform the duties of the position.
Required Technical Skills:
• Mixture of Unix admin and network skills.
• Telecoms/mobile background with GSM/UMTS/TDS-CDMA experience.
• Has worked on different networks with multiple firewalls/routers/switches within customer networks.
• Has worked at least in 2 or 3 different IP data networking projects design and deployment, ideally for different customers.
• Basic Unix skills able to do things like setting an IP address, adding a network route, changing permissions on files, etc.
• Has used network snuffers (like ethereal) and knows how to follow the TCP path.
• Good knowledge of TCP is required.
• Degree in Datacomms/Telecomms and/or 10+ years experience in designing and configuring TCP/IP networks
Professional Qualifications. This is not a must but it is a big plus:
Some or all of the recognised Cisco certifications listed below:
• CCIE – Routing and Switching, WAN Switching or Design certification tracks
• CCNP/CCDP – Routing and Switching or WAN Switching certification tracks
• CCNA/CCDA – Routing and Switching or WAN Switching certification tracks
Communications
Describe the requirement, which goes with the job for dealing with or influencing other persons. In defining this role, state typical contacts, the nature of the contact and the type and level of interpersonal skill used in such contacts.
• Good written communication skills and outstanding oral presentation skills required
• Ability to produce clear and accurate solution design diagrams and equipment lists
• Ability to produce succinct technical design documentation and test reports
• Ability to produce and present technical presentations to Customers and fellow engineers
Complexity
Describe the mental challenge of the duties involved; the degree of independent action; the extent to which the duties are circumscribed by standard practice; the exercise of judgement and the type of decisions made; the amount of resourcefulness and planning the job requires; the creative effort in devising new methods, policies, procedures or products and original applications. • Investigation and research to continuously improve design of solutions
• Substantial SUN product knowledge.
• Substantial Cisco product knowledge and expertise in product selection
• Acute awareness of industry standards and recommendations to ensure conformance of solutions
• Awareness of emerging technologies and how best to integrate with existing solutions
Impact

Span of Control
State the overall responsibility for supervision, in terms of functions and subordinate employees.
• Reports to Both the Head of Technical Consulting & Regional Head
• Work along side supporting Sales and Account Managers.
