the bulls are not pleased with 2008, as stocks remain in the red. The Dow and S&P are down roughly 12% from their October highs and the Nasdaq is down 15% from its high. Both mark a technical "correction," which is typically defined as a 10% drop from recently reached highs.
The financial sector (-1.5%) is now the main laggard with all 19 of its industry groups in the red. The thrifts & mortgages group (-4.9%) is showing the main weakness. The S&P 500 Retailing Index (-3.3%) is also under pressure. (On the second thought though, only those ladies who spend the whole days at the shopping malls shopping until dropping would be able to save this economy) 
After taking out my history book I fast rewinded to Oct. 29, 1929, the beginning of the Great Depression, the Dow dropped on that day from 386 to 41, yes, 41 at the closing bell, a "black hole" decline of almost 90%!!! Sorry I used 惊叹号。
