Gun ownership and public security
The debate over gun ownership has been last for several years，some people insist that every person has the right of keep guns. While others hold the opinion that gun leads to crime and it should be controled. As far as I am concerned , I don't think it necessary for normal people to have guns.
For some American people ,having the gun ownership for people is just as normal as the right to vote and the right to a fair trial. They belive that they have the freedom of keeping weapons just as it is said in the US Constitution, and they can use guns protect themsevles when necessary. Also, another important reason for gun right is to prevent the extension of govermental power.
In America, approximately 50% of households have at least one gun，and there are 60~65 million guns in private hands. However,is the gun so important for us as we imagine? And has it brought the things we trully want to get from it?
Most of gun holders need guns just because they lack of safty. When there are some ones have guns, it must cause others worried about security so they hurry to buy guns, as a result of which guns spread out in our society as the communicable disease. That means, every gun holder become a carrier of risk.
Leave guns in home is no doubt that leave danger goods beside us. Although, most guns are owned by law-abiding citizens and are used carefully. But even these legal guns kill nearly 40，000 Americans a year. Beside kill others, they are far more likely kill themsevles, because nearly half of all gun deaths are suicides.
Sometimes or some of us may be not able control their emotion well. Once they get angry and the impulsion break the intellectuality down, it is great possible for them use guns solve simple quarrel. When such tragedy was put on in our true life, that cause more feeling of unsafty among people. While we put too much attention on self-defense, is their anybody care of the danger that we bring to others? While we want to fight against criminals and high-risk individuals, we may become one of them.
What's more, there are campus shooting every year since 1966 it took place in U.S. Especially in 2007 April 16, a total of 33 people, including the gunman, were killed in the shooting rampage took place in Virginia Tech. Once kids find these guns and tend to play with them，they may do not know the gun can hurt them，they may just imitate adults point guns to others head……According to statistics, in America there are 15 teenagers die of gun shooting in every 10 million. (是这样写吗？每10万青少年中就有 15名死于枪杀，实在不知道怎么绕出来了^_^) Facing up to these numbers, I doubt if it is the real goal we want to get by holding a gun.
I do admit that there is crime in our society, and they cause threat to our security. But with the development of techenology, there are not only guns but also numbers of ways which not so dangers can protect us from hurt. Such as stun guns, pepper sprays, home protection, these products can beat criminals while do not cause too much injury. So that we can control violences by non-violences way, that is the true differences between self-protect and crime, and can decrease the crime rate virtually.
When anyone attempt to regulate ownership of guns, there must be some one jump out and say that gun is the most powerful tool for us to fight aginst government. But does guns really work in our hands when we have to be enemy to goveremnt? Can anyone believe that guns can beat the cannons and tanks? No doubt, the answer is negatively. Guns seldom used for revolution but often cause gun violence among our society, and help criminal find weapons easier.
Actually, most of the gun owners have the same aim as the gun control supporters. That is live a peace life. But it seems guns haven't help them a lot in security problem, but bring some bad infulenc. So as a result, if we always wish for a peacful life, why not try to give up gun and try other ways to defend ourselves?
