Job Description
SIA China Office Managing Director
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) is seeking a Managing Director, China Office. The Managing Director will be the senior SIA presence in China. The Managing Director should beprepared to work independently, with minimum support staff.
Responsibilities would include:
• Open and run an SIA China Office in Beijing, including all budget and other associated administrative duties.
• Act as lead contact in China for SIA
• Advocate SIA policy positions with Chinese government, industry, and media representatives.
• Identify legislative and government issues that would impact SIA member companies.
• Work with SIA senior staff in the U.S. and member company executives in the U.S. and China to formulate strategic policy positions on China public policy positions.
• In addressing issues, maintain a balance of local culture and business climate with those of the parent.
• Organize delegation visits to China, including background materials, arranging senior level meetings, and logistics.
• Provide interpretation support for visiting delegations in all but senior level or technical meetings.
• Support activities of the SIA China Chapter, composed of senior executives from SIA member companies’ China operations.
• Provide regular reports to SIA committees.
The ideal candidate would have at least 6-10 years of corporate/semiconductor industry experience and/or trade association/ government agency experience involving public policy issues in China. Master’s degree preferred - economics, business, international relations, government or law preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills in both Chinese and English and thorough understanding of Chinese and American cultures required. Applicant should be comfortable advocating U.S. policy positions. Program budgeting experience and policy advocacy experience a plus. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with interest in technology and competitiveness issues. The Managing Director will report to the SIA President.
