Summary of Position
The Network Administrator is responsible for the installation, maintenance, management, troubleshooting, and support of Local Area Network Servers, hardware and software and Local Area Network (LAN) clients’ connectivity for all Cooper Bussmann Asia locations.
Dimensions
Operating Systems: Microsoft NT, and Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server
Connectivity: LAN/WAN, Ethernet Topology, Bridges, Routers, Switches, IPX, and TCP/IP
Program Products: Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, and Microsoft BackOffice
The Network Administrator is responsible for the creation, implementation and auditing of security procedures.
Principal Accountabilities for all Asia locations
· Install and maintain Local Area Network Servers’ hardware and software.
· Analyze software installation parameters to ｓｅｌｅｃｔ the appropriate options for the installation.
· Ensure adequate backup/recovery procedures are being executed for disaster recovery purposes.
· Test and implement designated new products and maintenance releases.
· Provide preventative and corrective maintenance of Local Area Network operating systems and associated software.
· Test and evaluate the integrity of applied maintenance to provide the highest level of system availability and accuracy.
· Ensure network software licensing compliance.
· Work with the business applications providers to establish and maintain a communications link between the file server and the network clients.
· Measure and regularly report the efficiency of network software and hardware.
· Establish and maintain threshold indicators for effective processing of designated workloads.
· Recommend appropriate changes to resolve performance problems. Plan and implement designated changes.
· Develop ongoing maintenance and training methodology to ensure end user resource availability and understanding of changes in technology.
· Help establish and maintain PC Network standards and practices in line with Cooper Bussmann and Cooper Information Technology Solutions and Services (CITSS) policies.
· Contribute to the development of uniform practices and techniques to be followed by all network systems personnel.
· Maintain good logs and documentation of facilities, additions, changes or deletions. Document all changes made to vendor code to enable future review or maintenance of those changes.
· Provide pro-active solutions in all PC/workstation environments.
· Provide end user support as required.
· Work collaboratively with Digital Lighting IT personnel at Silver Victory to support the Intuitive system and related business users.
· Provides supervision and work assignments to the Technical Support team as required.
· Perform other job duties as assigned.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent is a technical specialist in the field of Local Area Network (LAN) operating systems. Major responsibilities include the planning of, physical preparation of, documentation of, and support of Local Area Network Servers and data communications facilities for end user requirements
The LAN Administrator will maintain good exchange of communication with his/her superiors, peers, and end user personnel, as necessary, and will supply regular reports of the progress and issues to management.
Minimum Job Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position are a college degree and two years personal computer network operating system support experience. Certification as a network engineer (MCSE 4.0 or MCSE WIN2K) is required.
