LOCATION
Shanghai, China
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Shanghai R&D Centre Manager will be based in Shanghai and report to the R&D Director, Singapore & China. The individual will be responsible for R&D center short-term and long-term business strategic direction, team leadership in delivering best customer experiences, competitive IP offerings and design innovation. The person must understand R&D BU plan and strategy for the related local resources leveraging and engagement and also demonstrate the local team value to customer value of differential product. The person will also maximize to fullest potential and existing resources for company’s products R&D and customer technical support and product development/customization.
Positioning him/herself as the key role of IC Design Centre in China, s/he will take charge of product research and development operation. Detailed responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Understand local business environment and increase R&D productivity with the sense of cost effectiveness
Establish effective network with BU to identify the valuable projects for china R&D team.
Create conducive work environment, open work place, and great team spirit.
Develop R&D teams with strong project management skills and core competencies in IC Design and application areas relevant to the BU s’ stated goals.
Execute to baseline commitment.
Increase employee’s commitment level to company.
S/He will also be responsible for customer technical support team, which provides full range of R&D and technical design support from the initial design-win phase through volume production phase. Typical support responsibilities would include:
Deal with IC level – R&D, applications & Quality issues
Handle hardware level – Board design & customization etc.
Provide 3rd Party Software Application integration & customization.
Provide Field Trial Support.
Conduct Analysis of issues, localization of system level problems to phone/software/hardware/IC etc.
Provide training for products and Customer teams as required.
Provide customer on site support and issues tracking service.
In addition, s/he will manage Product Development & Customization program, be responsible for team development, R&D work and customizing applications, platforms & software solutions based on BU and 3rd party components and software to meet the needs of R&D customers in China and oversea.
EDUCATION
The individual should hold a minimum of a BA/BS degree, ideally in the field of electronics or equivalent subject.
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
In terms of competencies, the Shanghai R&D Centre Manager must:
Have excellent verbal and written English language communications skills as well as Mandarin fluency required.
Have 8+ years working experience in IC Design in telecommunications, networking, and related broadband applications.
Have proven people management skills for team of 40+ in this technical field, proven ability to work with next level of management and other development teams in various locations worldwide.
Have practical experience of developing, proving, delivering & supporting SoC R&D, applications, board level products or embedded/real time software.
Have excellent & proven team working skills across countries and cultures.
Be able to work directly with colleagues and customers including travel to their sites.
